Bupropion hydrochloride, an antidepressant, is chemically unrelated to other known antidepressant agents. Its structure resembles that of diethylpropion and it is related to phenylethylamines. Bupropion hydrochloride powder is white, crystalline, and soluble in water and alcohol. It has a bitter taste and produces a numbing effect on the mouth.
