Drug Information on Humira (Adalimumab)

Adalimumab is a tumor necrosis factor blocker that is created using phage display technology. It is a recombinant human IgG1 monoclonal antibody with human derived heavy and light chain variable regions and human IgG1:k constant regions. Adalimumab is produced using recombinant DNA technology in a mammalian cell expression system and is purified through specific viral inactivation and removal steps. It is available as a sterile, preservative-free solution for subcutaneous administration. The solution is clear and colorless with a pH of about 5.2. Different formulations of HUMIRA (adalimumab) injection are available, including prefilled pens, prefilled glass syringes, and institutional use vials. Each formulation contains different amounts of adalimumab, mannitol, polysorbate 80, and Water for Injection, USP. Sodium hydroxide is used as necessary to adjust the pH of the solution.

HUMIRA is a medication that is used to treat various conditions. These include Rheumatoid Arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque Psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and uveitis. HUMIRA can reduce signs and symptoms, inhibit the progression of structural damage, and improve physical function in patients with these conditions.
