Prazosin hydrochloride capsules, USP, are a type of antihypertensive medication. The capsules contain prazosin hydrochloride, which is a quinazoline derivative. The chemical formula of prazosin hydrochloride is C19H21N5O4 • HCl and its molecular weight is 419.87. The capsules are available in strengths of 1 mg, 2 mg, and 5 mg. They are made up of various inactive ingredients including colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, and microcrystalline cellulose. The gelatin capsules are filled with black iron oxide, gelatin, red iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and yellow iron oxide. The specific color additives vary for each strength of the capsules.
